Introduction

In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death. 17.9 million people die each year from cardiovascular disease(31% of all deaths). Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs) include several disorders involved with the heart and blood vessels such as coronary heart disease. Prevention is possible through early treatment, however, detection would only be possible after screening. The early detection of atrial fibrillation is important to prevent increased risk of symptoms such as stroke. A low-cost accessible portable electrocardiogram device can decrease the risk for CVDs by notifying a doctor or warning the user earlier than a screening.
